Meet JuJu and Memes

Boys will always, no matter what, be boys.

This is JuJu and Memes. Joey and James. JuJu was bestowed upon Joey by his Uncle Garth and smart Joey has adopted it as his own. JuJu bestowed James the name Memes all by his 25 month old self because again…smart.  Memes and JuJu are buds. The type of buds their moms foresee existing long into the future. Of course that could change. Ya know, life. Maybe one day they will be sitting across from one another’s dinner table chatting about who their longest friend is and it will be each other. Maybe it’s their mothers circumstances that have brought them closer. Both moms are home. They get the kids together at least once a week for fun and usually free adventures and because the boys get along and watching them together brings joy. Two peas in a pod…JuJu and Memes. Moms, Marie and Sarah and these are their, adventures in Mommyhood.

You guys.Β

Memes and I spent two hours here this morning and absolutely could have stayed longer had we not had plans.

The Red Canoe In Lauraville, Baltimore. Down Harford Rd, it’s a reminder of the way Baltimore used to be. Quaint.

James snacked on a banana chocolate chip muffin, easily the best I’ve ever had. I ate The Oatmeal, which alone is good enough to go back for. We started at a table then moved to a couch and then I sat in  a chair while he played with blocks on the floor. Eventually we moved out back. On the way there is a treasure of a room with toys and a play kitchen for kids (πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ). Once outside, James was being his loud toddler self playing with some of the toy trucks he had brought out from the kid room.  I was trying to hush him since there were people working on lap tops. I was told by two women sitting at separate tables near one another not to try to keep him quiet. I quote, “if u come to Red Canoe, don’t expect to keep your kids quiet.”  I thanked them (probably too many times) and James continued to play in the dirt of the lower garden.

At one point we came back in and I purchased a coffee mug (I’m a bit of a coffee mug fanatic and this one is perfection),I struck up a conversation with Tina one of the owners and the deal was sealed that I am forever in love with this place.

Go. Take your kids. Have some breakfast or lunch or both. Buy a children’s book. Drink some of Zeke’s DELICIOUS coffee.  We’ll see you there. πŸ’™

Climb Every Mountain

Summer is in full swing and JuJu&Memes have been making the most of it. Check out this vid of the boys climbing up a STEEP hill, no questions asked.

This was at Cromwell Valley Park, by their natural playground. I can remember the first time Memes encountered a hill like this- it was at Oregon Ridge Nature Center’s natural playground. They have ropes going up theirs to help the kids (and parents) out. At the time, Memes physically wasn’t able to climb it at all. How amazing is it to watch their endurance and strength increase? Get it boys!!!!

Where have we been?!?

#crew
Outside. We’ve been outside. From the second he wakes up until the second I make him come in, Memes wants to be outside. It’s fine with me. We just wander. He’s pretty much the Mayor of the Neighborhood.
In other news,The Avenue at White Marsh has started up their Tots at 10 program again. The first Thursday of every month they close off the central part of the avenue and let the Tots run amuck. Each event has a different theme. Today’s was Ravens and Orioles complete with pictures with the birds (no, we did not get any. The line was insane but I noticed it did move fast). Every Tots at 10 there are businesses set up throughout offering coupons, goodies, and kid activities. IKEA had a tent set up with a play rug and a bunch of there great toys (#love). Kids First Swim had buckets of bubbles, there’s always the tot sized soccer goals set up with plenty of balls to kick around. The restaurants offer deals aplenty. It really is a fun event and something we look forward to. Here’s June’s event-Tots @ 10

I almost forgot (how could I?!)….The Avenue has done a HUGE revamp. Turf area( ice skating rink in winter!),stage, swinging bench chairs, football table, lounge like seating. It is sooooooo chill. Head up there these summer evenings, grab a Coldstone, and cop a squat. 😊

Meme’s is TWO

James turned two on April 14.

This quote captures how I have felt since I first felt him move in my belly…magicπŸ’«πŸ’«πŸ’«
“Can you remember the first time you saw a sunrise? The first time your toes felt sand? The first time you tasted chocolate? Probably not; you were too young to remember. Five minutes before those experiences happened you were just cruising right along, thinking life was great as is. But then, you saw that stunning orange sunrise and you felt that warm sand between your toes and you tasted that delicious piece of chocolate and you knew. You knew life just became infinitely better in every way because you experienced magic. And motherhood is kind of like that, only a million times better.”
